Every now and then you have a bit of news in your industry. The key here is to focus on breaking down the news into easily consumed bites for your ideal customer to use immediately to gain an unfair advantage over the competition.
For those who aren’t big fans of actually writing things down, talk it out. Transcription software can be a bear. But some of the software is worth the time to get to know how to use it. I highly suggest putting this into motion for your Newsy Articles. Here’s why: There’s no key template for this one. It is 95% explanation and 5% advice. For all of my non-professional writers out there, this part may send you running for the hills. Don’t. Speak into your phone instead.
There are several good transcription tools out there. Whenever I must transcribe instead of write, I use Google Keep. It’s Google’s online data filing system for the masses. I love it and use it often. It has a function for speaking into the app and the app transcribes every word you speak with high accuracy. Note: I’m unsure if this is just as effective for those with an accent Google has not programmed into their system. Give it a try. It may work for you.
Imagine you’re at a café table sitting across from our ideal customer. Instead of the person asking you a question, you immediately tell the person about the latest news in your industry. The only way you can really know what’s news and what isn’t is to keep an eye on trends in the life of your ideal customer. Keep in touch with that person and you’ll always know what’s important enough that the person will read it.
A useful tool for keeping up to date with the issues affecting your ideal client is Google News. The system sends you an email with a listing of articles based on a subject you type in. I love this thing and I have alerts for all kinds of news items and happenings. I even have an alert set up for when my name shows up in an article or on a blog.
